The Lagos State Government, on Thursday, blazed the trail by granting 100 non-oracle officers, drawn from all Parastatals in the State Public Service, Long Service Merit Awards.

In his address at the ceremony held at the State Treasury Office (STO) Resource Centre, CBD, Alausa, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola said the objective of according the awardees, who are not core civil servants, the Long Service Merit Awards was to underscore the present administration’s commitment to employee motivation and satisfaction.

Muri-Okunola, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary. Parastatals Monitoring Office, Mrs. Kafayat Adetokunbo Ajenifuja, urged the awardees not to rest on their oars but continue to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty, which are the qualities and values for which they were being honoured.

In his words: “The State government today presented long service awards to 100 public servants who are not on the oracle database of the State government. These officers had served meritoriously in the last 30 years and above. The recognition is in continuation of the laudable tradition of excellence”.

“Let me reiterate that your acknowledgement today represents the State government’s appreciation of your immense contributions over the past 30 years to the growth and development of Lagos State”, the HoS said.

He, therefore, enjoined all public servants to keep up the good attitude to work for which Lagos has earned the appellation “Centre of Excellence”.

Responding on behalf of other awardees, Mr. Oladiran Ajetunmobi, Director, Public Affairs, Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), expressed appreciation to the State government for such laudable initiative of recognising staff, who are in the Parastatals, especially for the Long Service Awards, the first of its kind.

Ajetunmobi also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his passion and unshakable commitment to the welfare and well-being of public servants since assumption of office.
