.…..The 280-bed Capacity Hospital To Run 60% Solar, Get CT, MRI Scanners
The Lagos State Government has intensified monitoring of the 280-bed Ojo-Iba Secondary Specialist Hospital which is now 90 percent complete.
The state Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, in a statement on Monday, August 17, 2026 after an inspection of the facility said the facility is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
According to him, the facility is designed to provide quality healthcare to residents of Ojo, Iba and surrounding communities in a functional and purpose-built environment.
The facility will be equipped with ultra-modern CT and MRI scanners, as well as sophisticated laboratory diagnostic technology. Staff quarters have also been provided to accommodate workers.
A major feature of the project is a solar farm designed to generate 60 per cent of the hospital’s power needs, reducing dependence on the national grid and diesel, in line with the state’s green design policy.
The inspection team, led by government officials, also assessed the surrounding environment, including an adjoining unplanned market slated for relocation. Structural issues arising from recent rains were identified and will be addressed before completion.
In attendance were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, and teams from relevant ministries and agencies.
Authorities said the focus at this stage extends beyond building completion to ensuring that infrastructure, power supply, access roads and the surrounding environment are ready for long-term operations. Inspections will be intensified as equipping progresses.
The government said the hospital represents a significant investment in the health and wellbeing of Lagosians and aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to delivering the facility before the end of his administration.
