The Lagos State Government has served notices to quit on occupants of structures built under high-tension power lines in the Alagbado/Oke-Odo axis, marking several buildings for removal over encroachment on designated Right-of-Way (RoW).
The enforcement action was carried out by the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority (LASISMA) along AIT Road, where officials issued contravention notices to squatters and property owners found violating physical planning regulations.
The exercise followed directives from the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, as part of efforts to address planning infractions and environmental hazards within the corridor.
Representing the General Manager of LASISMA, Daisi Oso, the enforcement team marked buildings constructed under or dangerously close to high-tension cables and directed affected occupants to comply with safety and urban planning standards by vacating the restricted corridor.
According to the agency, the operation was aimed at safeguarding lives and property, reducing environmental risks, and ensuring adherence to the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law, 2019 (as amended).
LASISMA warned that structures erected illegally beneath or near high-tension cables pose significant electrical hazards and obstruct critical infrastructure corridors.
In a related development, LASISMA officials met with the leadership of the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area to strengthen inter-agency collaboration on land-use compliance and sustainable urban development.
The enforcement drive forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to uphold planning standards and promote a safer, more orderly Lagos.
