The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspected cultist, Muyideen Olatunbosun, during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation in Ikorodu.
The suspect was arrested on patrol along the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu following credible intelligence received by operatives, according to a statement on Tuesday, September 22, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, suspected criminal charms and a quantity of illicit drug popularly known as “Ice.”
The Command said Olatunbosun is currently in custody and assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other members of his cult group, while efforts have been intensified to track down fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response to intelligence and reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks and curb cult-related violence.
He urged residents to support the police with timely and credible information and assured the public of continued proactive policing to protect lives and property.
