President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled diplomatic missions to South Africa and Angola to oversee the national response to recent security breaches in Kebbi and Kwara states.
A statement from his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the President is awaiting further security briefings on both incidents.
This includes reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who conducted a sympathy visit to Kebbi on the President’s behalf, as well as comprehensive updates from the police and the Department of State Services regarding the Kwara attack.
In immediate response to a request from the Governor of Kwara State, President Tinubu has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area.
He has also issued a direct mandate for security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of the church attack.
The President has reiterated his directive that security forces must do everything possible to rescue the 24 abducted schoolgirls from Kebbi and ensure their safe return home.
