Kwara Govt Revamps State Vaccine Central Cold Store, Takes Delivery Of Ultra Cold Freezer

The Kwara State Government in its bid to improve the health care service delivery in the State, has revamped the State Cold Store and taken receipt of 1 unit of an Ultra Cold Chain Freezer.

Speaking at her Office, the Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Nusirat Elelu said the present administration led by Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq the Governor of Kwara State has shown tremendous support to our Primary Health Care Centers by renovating several Health Facilities across the 16 Local Government Areas in the state and delivery of 17 inverter freezers for use at all levels in State.

Dr. Elelu further said the State Vaccine Central Cold Store donated in 2010 by EU-PRIME has not witnessed any form of face lift for over 11 years. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State approved that the cold store undergo renovation in addition to the recently acquired brand new 50KVA generating set. It is really overwhelming to witness this unique gesture from our amiable Governor, as this will protect the quality of vaccines that our mothers and children will receive.

The Kwara SPHCDA also on behalf of the state took receipt of a 720litres Ultra Cold Chain Freezer from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency. These type of freezer has the capacity to store vaccines like the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccines at up to -70°C.

Speaking, the Director Primary Health Care Systems, Dr. Micheal Oguntoye stressed that revamping the State Cold Store and the delivery of the Ultra Cold Chain Freezer will afford the State Primary Health Care Development Agency the opportunity to discharge their duties without any infrastructural challenges.

He said, the renovation and delivery of ultra cold chain freezer is a welcome development that will create great impact and help to keep our vaccines at optimal temperature. He went further to commend the Kwara State Government for its unflinching support in the healthcare sector.

Adding, the State Immunization Officer, Alhaja Sarat Yunus appreciated the State Government and the Management of the State Primary Health Care for their contributions stating the face-lift was long overdue and that all hands would be on desk to take the Agency to greater heights.
