This assurance and other information were contained in a press statement signed by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Haruna Saka who noted that the hallmark of the exercise which began last year was to, in line with the dreams of Governor Bello to give Kogites a Specialist Hospital befitting of its name, instead of what it used to be.

He noted that “There will be the construction of a new office complex accompanied with total remodelling and renovation of old existing structures, as well as the construction of a Psychiatric Center within Lokoja Metropolis (under the Administration of the KGSSHL) which will be the first of its kind in Kogi State”

The Health commissioner asserted that the state government wanted the work completed as quickly as possible pleading with the people to exercise patience and endure a little inconvenience.

He mentioned that the closure within about 3 -4 weeks was for a greater eventual benefit asserting that “It was only natural that in life we sometimes suffer a little pain in other to enjoy an excess of pleasure and comfort”.

Dr Saka expressed that people should find solace in the fact that on resumption of service, Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja would be a better and greatly upgraded version of its old self which would accommodate more and improved health care services to the satisfaction of all.

He mentioned that the Federal Medical Center Lokoja and other peripheral Hospitals would double their efforts to cater for patients and ensure nobody was denied access to health services throughout the period.

The State Commissioner used the medium to appreciate the efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello to take the Kogi State Health sector to enviable heights by approving landmark projects and implementing policies that have and would continue to have great impacts on the life of all Kogites.

He stressed that the Governor’s commitment to health was unrivalled in the Country and he deserved the best of accolades.
