The Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas of Kebbi state under the aegis of ALGON, Kebbi State Chapter, have commiserated with the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, over the boat mishap in Warrah, Ngaski Local Government, which claimed the lives of over 100 passengers, last week.

The Kebbi State ALGON Chairman, Barrister Shehu Marshal, the Chairman of Jega Local Government, who is also the National Vice Chairman of ALGON, led the delegation on the condolence visit , on Monday, to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

Marshal said, ” Your Excellency, as you can see, we are here to condole with you and the people of Kebbi State over the boat mishap in Warrah, which claimed over 100 lives.

‘ We pray that Allah, the Almighty, will forgive those who lost their lives in the accident and give the members of their families, the formidable fortitude to bear the losses.”

He told the governor of the myriad of encomiums from the people of Warrah, following his physical presence, to commiserate with them over the fatal incident.

‘ Yesterday, Your Excellency, we were in Warrah, to console one of ours over the boat accident. I must say that we feel happy to hear how the people are commending you,”he said.

The State ALGON Chairman commended Governor Bagudu for his unwavering efforts and doggedness in taking proactive measures to tackle security challenges in the state.

Responding, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, thanked and appreciated the delegation for the visit, saying that, the losses of lives is for all to bear.

According to the Governor, the accident has attracted world attention and would go down in the annals of history as one of the worst tragedies in recent times.

While appreciating the flurry of concerns, especially from President Muhammad Buhari, Senators, House of Representatives Members, Governors, Traditional and Religious leaders, Governmental and Non Governmental Groups, Bagudu also thanked all the critical stakeholders, particularly the Marine Police, National Inland Water Ways Agency,, NEMA, SEMA, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Vigilantes, among others, for helping in the search and rescue operation of the victims.

Bagudu also expressed appreciation for the visit from Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF for donating 50 million naira, Sokoto State, 40 million naira and Zamfara State for donating 30 million naira, as well as the visit of Governor of Katsina State.

He explained that, with the permission of President Muhammadu Buhari, a Committee would be set up to unravel the root causes of the accident, in order to guard against future occurrence .
