The Katsina State Police Command has busted a notorious burglary syndicate breaking into homes and shops within Katsina metropolis.  

Spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday , said the suspects were arrested in a criminal hideout while preparing to go out for their nefarious acts.

“On the 26/2/2022, at about 0000hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting one (1) Kamala Abdullahi alias “Dan Small”, ‘m’, 18 years old of Yammawa Quarters, Katsina (2) Usman Hamisu, alias “Dan Ussy”, ‘m’, 20 years old of Tudun Yan Lihidda Quarters, Katsina (3) Muhammadu Abubakar alias “Sarauta”, ‘m’, 21 years old of Rafukka Quarters, Katsina and (4) Aminu Salisu, ‘m’, 23 years old of Jibia LGA, Katsina, notorious house breakers and thieves terrorizing Katsina and its environs,” Gambo stated. 

The PPRO said that the following exhibits were recovered in their possession: an iron dagger, one machete, one hammer, and two Knives

The suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and mentioned one Sabi’u Salisu alias “DUNA”, ‘m’, 35 years of Kofar Sauri Quarters, a notorious receiver of stolen property, as the receiver of the proceeds of their theft.

Upon the arrest of the suspect, a search was conducted in his residence where the following exhibits were recovered in his possession: 4 iron doors, provision stuff, one mattress,20 sheep, 25 bags of pepper, one generator, one bundle of roofing sheets

“Suspect was a notorious thief, receiver of stolen property, an ex-convict and habitual criminal. He confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing” Gambo added. 

The command also arrested six suspected drug dealers for possession of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“On the 26/2/2022, at about 0000hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting (1) Aliya Sulaiman, ‘m’, 17 years of Malaku village of Rimi LGA, Katsina. (2) Ahmadu Sulaiman, ‘m’, 25 years old of Kaware, Yargamji village, Batagarawa LGA. (3) Bashir Saddi, ‘m’, 27 years old of Makera, Yargamji village of Batagarawa LGA. (4) Shamsuddeen Salisu Kurfi, ‘m’, 50 years of Kurfi LGA. (5) Alkasim Musa, ‘m’, 18 years, of Kofar Marusa Quarters, Katsina. (6) Sani Ibrahim, ‘m’, 18 years of Bayan Masallacin Idi, Tudun Yanlihidda Quarters, Katsina,”

“Suspects were arrested by Police operatives at Yargamji market, upon instant search, large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and spirit solution were found in their possession.

“In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further stated that they are dealers of the substances. Investigation is ongoing,”

In another development, police operatives arrrested three suspected brigands with dangerous weapons.

“On the 26/2/2022, at about 0000hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting the trio of one (1) Mubarak Yunusa, ‘m’, 18 years old of Makera Quarters, Katsina. (2) Abubakar Babangida, ‘m’, 25 years old of Sabon Titin Kwado, Katsina and one (3) Mubarak Yan Ladan, ‘m’, 19 years old of GRA Quarters, Katsina.

“ Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were arrested late in the night in possession of dangerous weapons, strongly suspected to be brigands and when questioned, they could not give satisfactory account of themselves. Investigation is ongoing.”
