The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has carried out a large-scale operation targeting criminal hideouts across multiple areas in the state, leading to the arrest of 53 suspects involved in thuggery and drug-related activities.

According to the committee’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the intelligence-driven operation took place between March 13 and 14, 2025, in locations such as Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’en, and Dan Agundi.

During the raid, law enforcement agents seized a significant quantity of illegal substances, including parcels and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, bottles of codeine syrup, rubber solution tubes, a gallon of suck and die, and over 100 suspected exol tablets.

Authorities also recovered five cutlasses, two pairs of scissors, two clubs (gora), and a bulk of suspected charms.

Additionally, a drug distribution hub in Zanzado was dismantled, with a large stockpile of cannabis sativa confiscated. A delivery vehicle and five cattle, believed to belong to a notorious drug dealer, were also seized at the scene.

Comrade Waiya emphasized that all arrested suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.

He described the successful operation as a major step in the state’s efforts to curb crime and drug abuse.

The Task Force, composed of security agencies and government officials says it remains committed to restoring peace and ensuring a safer environment for Kano residents.
