Operatives from the anti-kidnapping unit of the Kano State Police Command stormed a kidnappers’ den in a deep forest in Gubuchi village, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, arrested two suspects and rescued two victims. 

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 2, 2024.

He said the suspected kidnappers attacked a resident of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano, beat him to a coma and abducted his 20-year-old daughter. 

According to the PPRO, the kidnappers whisked the victim to the Kaduna forest and demanded N30m ransom for her release. 

“On 18/07/2024 at about 12:45am, a report was received from a resident of Zarewa Village in Rogo LGA, Kano that an unknown armed persons attacked him, beat him up to a coma and kidnapped his daughter, Hafsat Nuhu, ‘f’, 20 years old and a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (N 30,000,000:00) was demanded for her release,” the statement read.

“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police raised a team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit led by SP Aliyu Muhammad Auwal and ordered the rescue of the victim and arrest of the culprits. Consequently, the operatives swiftly swung into action. 

“On 24/08/2024 at about 4:30am, the operatives stormed the kidnappers’ den in a deep forest in Gubuchi Village of Makarfi LGA, Kaduna State. 

“The said victim was rescued after 37 days in captivity alongside another kidnapped victim identified as Alhaji Badaru Adamu, ‘m’, 65 years old of Mahuta Village in Kubau LGA, Kaduna. 

“Two suspected kidnappers; one Yakubu Abubakar, ‘m’, 40 years old and Ali Noti, ‘m’, 50 years old were arrested at the scene. The case is under investigation.”
