The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has arrested eleven suspected criminals found with weapons after a violent rampage in the Mariri area of Kumbotso local government.

The command said this is a statement signed signed by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer for the Kano Command on Friday.

According to a statement, the suspects were picked up in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after allegedly attacking residents and stealing their belongings.

The NSCDC said the gang became violent after attending a local traditional festival.

The statement added that the group also stormed a civil defence outpost in Mariri, where they “attacked and left a staff fractured in the office.”

The incident reportedly occurred around “0100hrs.”

Those arrested are: Idris Muhd (20), Abubakar Shuaibu (24), Sagiru Hassan Yusuf (25), Idris Muhammad Morata (25), and Anas Rabiu (23). Others include Yahaya Muhd Yahaya (29), Khalid Idris (28), Mohd Adamu (19), Muktar Auwal Muktar (22), Salim Muktar (18) and Saifullahi Nuhu (18).

Recovered items include “six (6) cutlasses/swords as well as one (1) scissors,” the NSCDC said.

The Corps explained that its Intelligence and Investigation Department had completed necessary investigations and that the suspects would be charged in court.

The Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, restated his commitment to curbing criminal gangs and protecting public property.

The statement said the Command remains determined to checkmating the evil acts of all criminal gangs bent in breaching public peace and vandalizing critical assets and infrastructure.
