The Kaduna State Government says it has paid about ₦18 billion in inherited pension and gratuity arrears, citing higher receipts from the Federation Account as the reason.
The announcement was made on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The government added that the increased revenue has also allowed it to ramp up infrastructure development and boost agriculture funding.
Annual spending on agriculture jumped from ₦1.4 billion in 2023 to over ₦100 billion in 2026.
The state added that 115 road projects are currently ongoing across Kaduna’s 23 local government areas. More than half of the projects have been completed, covering over 1,400 kilometres of roads in both rural and urban communities.
The government said the pension payments form part of efforts by Governor Uba Sani’s administration to address financial obligations inherited from previous administrations, while also deploying increased federal allocations to fund development projects across the state.
Officials said the focus remains on clearing outstanding liabilities and investing in critical sectors to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic growth
