To mark this year Democracy Day, the Government of the State of Osun in Collaboration with Osun Civil Society Coalition will on Saturday hold a public lecture to mark the 28th Anniversary of June 12, 1993.

Comrade Hassan Sunmonu, a vetran labour leader and former National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) is the Chairman of this year lecture with the theme ; The Making of a Nation and Nigeria Democracy in Progress : Issues and Perspectives.

A statement jointly issued by the Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relation, Mr Taiwo Akeju, Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Engr. Olalekan Badmus and Chairman Osun Civil Society Coalition, Comrade Waheed Lawal said the lecture will hold at Aurora Event Centre Osogbo, by 10 am.

Vetran Journalist and former Ambassador to Philippine, Dr Yemi Farounmbi and Dr Tunji Ogunyemi a Political Economist from Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU) are guest lecturers.

Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola will be the Special Guest of Honour and the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin Aroyinkeye 1 is the Royal Father of the Day

Dignitries expected at the public lecture includes : members of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly members, Traditional Rulers, Civil Society Organisation, youth and students organisations among others.
