The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed the minimum scores for candidates to secure admission into universities in Nigeria at 140.
The Board also pegged the minimum cut off marks of Polytechnics at 100, while that of Colleges of Education was fixed for 100 as well.
The decision was reached at the 2023 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria held at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja.
During the meeting, Registrars of universities agreed that no university, except 15 private universities who picked 130 – 120, should go below the 140 marks adopted.
Meanwhile, JAMB has said that 557,626 candidates from 1.8 million applications have been admitted into tertiary institutions across the country in its 2022 admission processes.
According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the 2022 admission process was still ongoing owing to opportunities given to some key players in the sector to conduct admissions.
