The Federal Government has said that it would be insensitive to resume Abuja-Kaduna train operations while some abducted passengers are still in captivity.
The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo stated this while addressing state house correspondents after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday August 24.
According to him, government is still investigating the right type of surveillance equipment to procure in order to effectively monitor the tracks along the Abuja Kaduna route.
Government is also looking at concessioning it in a Public Private Partnership arrangement.
He said; “If I give a timeline, I’ll be lying to you. It will be insensitive to restart the service if some families weep day and night over their family members still in the bush”.
The minister said government is mindful of the cost involved but should be able to report definite progress in about a month.
