Barakat Suleiman and Aisha Yahaya from Dandi and Bagudo local Government Areas of Kebbi State have won the Presidential and Time keepers positions at the year 2020 activity marking International day of the girl child.

The event which was held in Sokoto had 30 girls selected from Primary to JSS classes from nine local govt areas from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States competing.

The Girls were engaged in various educational activities followed by election of leaders, in which girls from kebbi State emerged winners in the coveted positions.

The 2020 International Day of the Girl Child otherwise known as Day of the Girl Child is an annual event declared by United Nations to celebrate the Girl Child and accord priority for her education and welfare. This year’s theme for the International Day of the Girl Child is ” My Voice, Our Equal Future’.

It is a series of hybrid activities ( Some virtual some Physical ) from October 8 to 12th, 2020 observed worldwide. This year the celebration has taken a different turn due to the dreaded Coronairus pandemic . States were zoned to one State for the activities in line with NCDC guidelines.

The SA Media to Kebbi State Governor, Yahaya Sarki said the Kebbi girls were under the watchful eyes of High Level Women Advocates (HILWA) members namely Haj Binta Abdulhameed and Haj Rabi Isa Mohammed. The advocates checked and scrutinised stories written by Kebbi Students to ensure their victory.
