The affected markets are Magamin Diddi market in Maradun LGA, Galadi market in Shinkafi LGA, Mada market in Gusau local government, and Sabon Birnin Dan-Aii in Birnin Magaji LGA.

Also affected are Tsafe and Bilbis in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA), Jangebe market in Talata-Mafara LGA, and Wuya market in Anka LGA.

Additionally, the closure encompasses Kokiya, Chigama, and Nasarawar Godel markets, all located in Birnin Magaji local government.

The State Commissioner of Information, Munnir Haidara, said credible security reports indicated that these markets serve as platforms for bandits to trade rustled cows.

Haidara’s statement underlines the government’s imperative to close these markets due to credible intelligence suggesting collaboration between bandits and unscrupulous individuals involved in the trade of rustled cows within these markets.

“This bold move by the state government is a testament to its commitment to disrupting activities that fuel banditry, emphasizing the restoration of security and stability in Zamfara.

“The temporary closure aims to disrupt illicit transactions contributing to the cycle of criminality, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the communities involved.”
