The Imo State Government has reinstated its law on commercial vehicle’s colour code as enacted by the State House of Assembly in 2007.
The law which prescribed that all commercial vehicles operating across the state be painted in the following colour – Blue colour code 3011, to be painted down; White colour code 797 to be painted up; Red colour code 555 to be painted as two red lines running from the boot to the bonnet.
A statement by the State Government said the move is in line with the commitment towards ensuring that Imo state is crime-free.
The statement further stated that the colour code law is being enforced together with the newly introduced data capturing and enrollment of all commercial vehicle owners / operators for identification purposes.
it states, “In addition to the actualization of the digitalization of Imo economy and governance, the implementation of this law has an aesthetic complement to the restoration agenda of the 3R Government.
“With this reinstated law and the tracking system of the portal, the security measures for safety of all road users has been beefed up to a reasonable extent.
“It is worthy of note that the statistical data mining of this project would aid government in planning purposes.”
