Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has commiserated with people of Kamba over the fire incident which occured on Saturday night at the Kamba Central Market.

The governor has also directed the immediate reconstruction of shops and stalls affected by fire outbreak at the main market .

Furthermore, the governor ordered for the immediate provision of relief assistance to the victims.

Bagudu gave the directive when he led a powerful government delegation to Kamba on Sunday on a sympathy visit.

Represented by the Kebbi State, Deputy Governor, retired Colonel Sama’ila Yombe Dabai, Governor Atiku Bagudu expressed deep and sincere sympathies to the people of Kamba and Dandi Local Government on the tragic incident.

He assured that the state government would bring immediate succor to those affected to recoup losses and restart their businesses as usual.

The deputy governor accompanied by top Government officials inspected the burnt stalls and addressed the marketers at the scene of the inferno.

In a remark, the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammadu Lolo, prayed the Almighty God to compensate them abundantly and prevent future recurrence.

The Speaker said Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu mandated them to come to Kamba on sympathy visit, which would be consolidated by personal visit to the town by the Governor on his return from official an engagement in Abuja.

Similarly, the Chairman, Kebbi State Direct Labour Agency, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Dantani, addressed the traders, praying God to avert similar tragedies in the future.

The high powered delegation later moved to the Palace of Sarkin SHiko Kamba, Alhaji Muhammadu Zarumai, who conducted the Deputy Governor and his entourage round the destroyed shops at the market.

At the palace of Sarkin Shiko, the deputy governor , relayed the sympathy message of the governor, saying, ” the Governor is saddened by the tragic fire incident and directed immediate reconstruction of the affected shops, ” he averred.

Responding ,the Sarkin Shikon Kamba, Alhaji Muhammadu Zarumai, thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his consistent love and care to the people of Kamba .

He urged the victims of the fire outbreak to persevere and await government relief measures.

In an interview with newsmen at the palace, the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri, announced that arrangement was underway to provide fire fighiting vehicles to Kamba.

One of the shop owners affected by the fire incident, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad expressed appreciation to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his immediate response.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied on the visit to Kamba by the Speaker, House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Lolo, the SSG Babale Umar Yauri, the P.A to the Governor, Alhaji Farouk Musa Yaro, APC State Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, APC Zonal Chairman, North, Alhaji Sahabi Lolo, APC Elders Forum Chairman, Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro, as well as the Commissioners for Agriculture, Water Resources, Commerce, and Special Duties.

Others were: Alhaji Hussaini Kangiwa, Chairman Persons with Disability Commission, Alhaji Bello Dantani, Chairman of Direct Labour Agency , Alhaji Abubakar Nayaya, Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Special Adviser on Security, Garba Rabiu Kamba and Alhaji Faruk Kuru.

A total of twenty one shops and stalls were affected by the inferno, but without any injury.

The extent of damage to goods was yet to be quantified.
