The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC. has declared Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Biodun Oyebanji, as winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.
Oyebanji polled 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers.
Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), came second with a distant 82,211 votes.
While Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 67,457 votes.
The APC candidate won in 15 of the 16 Local Governments in Ekiti State
This means that the All Progressives Congress has retained power in the state and Oyebanji will be taking over from incumbent Kayode Fayemi in October.
The Returning Officer, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Kayode Adebowale said Oyebanji, having polled the majority of votes has been declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election.
