The political crisis within the All Progressives Congress in Imo West Senatorial District has taken a fresh turn, as 12 local government chairmen and other party stakeholders have rejected the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja recognising former Governor Rochas Okorocha as the party’s senatorial flag bearer.
The stakeholders, who insist that Governor Hope Uzodimma emerged through the party’s primaries, have described the judgment as a miscarriage of justice, warning of its possible implications for the party.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, the State APC Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma was overwhelmingly voted for during the party’s senatorial primaries.
The stakeholders questioned the basis of the court’s decision, insisting that it did not reflect the outcome of the party’s primary election.
They further expressed concern that the judgment could deepen divisions within the party and potentially affect its electoral prospects.
