The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has promised to serve single four-year term if elected president in 2027.
Makinde, who is governor of Oyo State, spoke at APM town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday, promising to address challenges facing country, including insecurity and poverty.
“Our government will not last beyond four years. And it will be an all-inclusive government,” Makinde said.
His promise mirrors that of Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, counterpart, Peter Obi, who also vowed to serve single four-year term if elected president.
The moves are in line with unwritten power-sharing deal between northern and southern regions. Incumbent President Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress, APC, is from South and is vying for re-election next year.
