The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation within the criminal justice system.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid in a statement on Tuesday said the IGP emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Correctional Service, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing, custodial security, and seamless coordination in criminal justice administration.

He noted that effective partnership between both institutions remains critical to enhancing national security and ensuring efficiency across the justice value chain.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening institutional synergy aimed at improving investigative outcomes, reducing delays in prosecution processes, and supporting reforms within the correctional system.

In his response, the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, CG Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, commended the Inspector-General of Police for the visit, noting that he is the first serving IGP to pay such an official visit to the Headquarters of the Service, a development he described as a strong demonstration of commitment to inter-agency cooperation and criminal justice reform.

He further emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration between both agencies, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing and custodial security management, and called for enhanced joint training programmes to improve operational efficiency, professionalism, and coordination within the criminal justice system.
