The Lecture was themed, “ICTs and Smart Transportation in Nigeria: Possibilities and Challenges”.

Prince Obayendo, in his presentation stated that there are limitless opportunities for the use of ICT in the transportation sector.

He cited the case of the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service, CVIS, an inspection service company, which he pioneers, that inspects vehicles and generates data thereof.

With the use of ICT, tasks have become simplified, less cumbersome, easily shareable and easily adaptable to meet current and future needs for patrons such as the government and other stakeholders. Technology plays a great role in its operations and with ICT, CVIS are currently institutionalizing safety as a way of life in the country.

He expressed optimism that the

“There is no facet in the transportation sector that cannot benefit from the use of ICT. Everybody is a beneficiary and when fully utilized, everyone wins’”, he buttressed.

He hinted, ‘CVIS, has the mission to help work with the government and other stakeholders to reduce road accidents. So we saw this gap and keyed into it.’

In a similar vein, Prince Obayendo described the Drivers Testing Theory, DTT, as another Temple Group’s ICT enabled solution that addresses another critical factor of road safety ,which is the driver.

DTT solutions ensures with ICT, the government only issues Driver Licence to certified drivers, hence, reducing to the barest minimum, inexperienced drivers capable of causing accidents on the highway.

To support the development of ICT in the school, Prince Obayendo promised automatic employment to the best three graduating students.

Also speaking at the event, the Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo, advised the students to take advantage of their time as students of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic to soak up relevant knowledge to help them better articulate the vision of the profession they desire.

While applauding the activities of the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service activities in Ogun State which has reduced carnages on the highways, he equally appreciated the support of Prince Obayendo to help articulate the vision of the ministry to make the roads safer.
