The ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, today February 27, announced that he has returned and assumed the position of Speaker of the Assembly.
Obasa stated this after storming the Assembly complex on Thursday morning with Police and State Security Service operatives as escorts.
Obasa who was returning to the Assembly for the first time since after his impeachment on January 13 speaking with reporters on Thursday afternoon said;
“I’ve resumed and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,”
Asked whether he has been reinstated as speaker, Obasa said, “I’ve never been removed. Impeachment or removal is democratic and constitutional but in doing that, you must follow the due process. I am not against that. If I do that, then I am not democratic.”
