The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors that he collapsed and was flown abroad for medical treatment, describing the claims as baseless and politically motivated
Wike described the reports of him collapsing as the handiwork of “baseless” people trying to score cheap political points.
He spoke after inspecting four ongoing projects in the FCT, including the International Conference Centre, ICC.
“I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in spreading rumors. First of all, I am a human being, not a ghost. If someone collapses, it is a human being that collapses, not a ghost. Unfortunately, I did not collapse.I didn’t show that I have any health problem.
“Let me tell you what happened. You see that the former Head of Service of Rivers state government came out to let the public know what was going on and how they planned to bomb the House of Assembly complex, how they planned to attack national assets…In order to divert attention from people not to focus on that, they had to bring one rumor that they have been flown overseas There was never a time I collapsed. There was never a time anybody took me to the hospital”
Posts circulating on X had alleged that the minister collapsed at an event on Friday in the FCT.
The rumour also claimed that Wike was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he received treatment.
But his media aide, Lere Olayinka had dismissed the claims, describing them as false
