Drama unfolded during Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record attempt for the largest pot of jollof rice when the massive pot unexpectedly collapsed.
The Nigerian chef on Friday, September 12, attempted the GWR for the largest jollof rice pot at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
A dramatic scene, however, occurred as her massive cooking pot unexpectedly collapsed while being lifted for weighing.
Given the importance of scaling in validating Baci’s record attempt by GWR after a successful cooking, a crane was brought to lift the gigantic 22,619-litre pot to determine its weight together with the rice.
After the pot suddenly gave way under its weight during the process, the crane operator was instructed to halt the lift to prevent further damage.
The incident, which happened on Friday night, leaves uncertainty about the official submission to the GWR, as the final measurement of the pot is essential to certify Baci’s attempt
