Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Alhaji Bodunde Oyinlade, the Chief Imam of the Uso Community in Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State.
The Chief Imam was kidnapped on his farm situated along the Owo-Akure highway on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
According to reports, Alhaji Oyinlade, 67, had left for the farm in the afternoon when his abductors trailed him and attacked him.
The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the family but are yet to demand ransom.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the incident on Sunday said police operatives and local vigilantes are combing the forest to rescue the victim.
The PPRO said the victim’s car and mobile phone were found at the farm.
“It was at about 6:pm that the family members came to report the incident at the police station in Uso community.
”The DPO, policemen and vigilantes are searching the area for possible rescue,” the spokesperson added.
