Multiple gun shots rocked Maiduguri on Tuesday by Boko Haram terrorist cwhile sources also reported explosions near Gomari area of the state.
This came hours after the military reported flushing out Boko Haram insurgents from Marte.
Sources say explosions were also heard in Mairi area, a student’s village near the University of Maiduguri.
Tuesday attack is the first on Maiduguri town in a long time and this may not be unconnected with the sustained onslaught on insurgents in the Sambisa axis of the state.
The human casualties are yet to be ascertained.
Some residents fled into safety.
According to reports, the military has responded to the attack, with the insurgents said to have backed a retreat.
