Guber Election Holds in 28 States As 11 Serving Govs Seek Re-election

All is set for the governorship elections scheduled to hold in 28 states across the country on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Eight of the 36 states Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Imo and Kogi have governorship elections “off-season” due to litigations and court judgements.

The 28 states where governorship elections will hold today, Saturday, March 18, 2023, are Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta.

Others are Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara States.

Of the 28 states, 11 serving governors are seeking reelection.

The 11 Governors seeking re-election are; Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State(PDP), Seyi Makinde of Oyo(PDP), Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos(APC), Dapo Abiodun of Ogun( (APC), Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa(APC).

Others are; AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State ( APC), Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State(APC), Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State(APC), Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State(APC), Babagana Zulum of Borno State(APC) and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi( PDP).

The governorship and state assembly elections are being held a week later than initially scheduled after a court case forced the Independent National Electoral Commission to move it forward.
