Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has publicly celebrated Wizkid and Tems’ timeless hit “Essence” following its resurgence at Coachella 2026.
In a widely circulated post on X, Onanuga wrote: “Still wondering why Essence did not win a Grammy. Great song, great rhythm!”
His reaction follows the viral videos from the California desert festival where Wizkid and Tems joined global pop star Justin Bieber on stage to perform the popular “Essence” remix during Bieber’s headlining set.
During the surprise collaboration, which took place over the weekend, Canadian singer Justin Bieber brought out Wizkid and Tems to join him for a live rendition of the ‘Essence’ remix.
As Wizkid greeted Bieber on stage, the crowd erupted at the sight of the Nigerian superstar. The remix kept the original rhythm while adding Bieber’s own verse.
This year’s Coachella headliners, announced last September, included American singer Sabrina Carpenter, Colombian star Karol G, and Bieber.
The festival runs over two weekends: April 10–12 and April 17–19, 2026, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California
