Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has announced the lifting of the curfew initially imposed on the state because of the Covid19 pandemic that ravaged the country some months ago.

A statement by his Special Assistant,Francis Nwaze said the lifting of the ban takes immediate effect.

While speaking in Abakaliki on Sunday,the Governor said the war against Covid 19 was won in the State due to prayers by Ebonyians, “From tonight, no more curfew in Ebonyi State.”

Governor Umahi equally called on all Ebonyians to go about their legitimate businesses while peacefully conducting themselves.

He again, announced the setting aside of 3 billion naira for the empowerment of youths and women with effect from January 2021 adding that about 3000 youths and women are expected to benefit from the empowerment in each Local Government Area of the State.

” As a government, we have set aside the sum of 3 billion naira starting from January to encourage our youths and women to do things with their hands and three thousand youths will benefit from this ie. about two hundred plus per council area.

” It is about a million per person and we are going to be convinced about the seriousness of anybody that it will be given to.

“The website is www.ebonyistate.gov.ng and it is domiciled in the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on SME. You are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity and apply. The selection template will be the same for everybody.

“If there is no alternative to politics and appointment, this country cannot wake up.

“Before people vote for you to bring roads, water, light and ease of doing business but now they vote for you because they want you to appoint them. How can you appoint everyone that voted you?”

“But I believe that amid these difficulties, according to the Bible, we will overcome.”the Governor said.
