Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has warned Mothercat Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the dualisation of the ₦5.4 billion Mashi-Daura township road project against substandard work.

Radda gave the warning on Tuesday while flagging off the construction of the three-kilometre dual carriageway. He urged the construction firm to execute the project in accordance with approved specifications.

“I commend Mothercat Nigeria Limited and urged the company to maintain a higher standard of quality and complete this project within the agreed time frame. The people of Mashi deserve nothing less than excellence,” he said.

The governor said the road will ease traffic, improve access to markets, reduce travel time, lower transportation costs and create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

He described Mashi market as one of the largest and busiest markets, attracting traders, farmers and transporters within and outside Katsina State, and a major centre for agricultural commodities and livestock.

Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Sani Magaji, said the project involves solar-powered streetlights, reinforced drainage systems, pedestrian walkways and other road safety features.

He added that the project underscores the governor’s commitment to strategic infrastructure for economic development.
