The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has constituted a seven-man panel of inquiry to investigate the suspended 18 local government chairmen and their vice chairmen in the state.

The seven-man panel is headed by Solomon Imohiosen, while Osagie Asabor is the secretary.

Other members are Adaze Andrew Enwanta, Patrick Idiake, Dorine Eduwui, Henry Unoakhe Itseuwa, and Prince Kassim Afegbua.

Recall that the Edo State House of Assembly, on December 17, 2024, during plenary, suspended the 18 local government chairmen and their vice chairmen following a petition written against them by Governor Monday

In the petition, the governor allegedly accused the councils’ executives of insubordination and gross misconduct.

The governor claimed that the council chairmen refused to submit the financial account statements of their respective local governments to the State Asset Verification Committee.

In its resolution, the House suspended the chairmen and vice chairmen for two months. It, however, directed the legislative leaders of the various local governments to take charge of the affairs of the councils in the interim.

Recall that Governor Monday Okpebholo, on December 3, 2024, gave the council chairmen 48 hours to submit statements of account to the Assets Verification Committee.

Okpebholo directed the council chairmen to submit the statements of account to the Assets Verification Committee through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.

He stated that the statements of account should cover the period from September 4, 2023, to the present.

He added that the statements would help and enable the Assets Verification Committee to perform its duties effectively and efficiently.
