The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has met with Permanent Secretaries (PSs) in the State while charging them to cooperate with newly elected cabinet members to ensure smooth and effective governance.

Governor Okpebholo in his address, appreciated the PSs for holding forth of government processes, saying that being the accounting officers of government, they endure more than politicians, who have limited tenure in office.

The Governor urged that there should be synergy among the PSs and the newly appointed key officers as well as those who would come later, for accelerated growth of the State. He informed the PSs of his plans to meet with them individually to see how the prospects of the respective ministries would contribute to the State’s overall development

He assured the PSs of his resolve to develop the State and reiterated that Edo State belongs to all and not an individual. He recommended that all must work collectively to realise the Edo of his dream; a state which would be compared to the likes of Lagos, Port Harcourt, Akwa Ibom, amongst others.

The Head of Service, Barr. Anthony Okungbowa PhD, who led the delegation of PSs, extoled the doggedness and dexterity of Governor Okpebholo, saying hours after his inauguration has started to fulfill the promises he made.

He stated, “Governor Okpebholo has made commitments even before his inaugural speech, that he will do something to ensure that the Civil and Public service becomes strong enough to power the initiatives of government.

“We are very grateful to you and what you intend to do with respect to Civil servants. I have advised my colleagues, from the first few steps that you took a few hours after your inauguration; inspecting and commissioning projects that you are ‘a doing governor’ and as a people, we must emulate you,”.
