Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has disclosed government’s plans to Construct an Ultra Modern Abattoir with the capacity of slaughtering 2000 cows daily.

The Governor who disclosed the plan shortly after inspecting the facilities at the State Abattoir also said the plan is already in motion in collaboration with Malaysian investors.

The Governor who expressed dismay over the empty buildings with obsolete pieces of rusted factory equipment noted that due to lack of maintenance the present Abattoir has lost its potentials.

He however revealed that upgrading the abattoir will change the fortune and also improve the hygienic condition of the environment, stating that it’s a win for the consumers and butchers.

On the construction of a new ultra modern Abattoir, the Governor said it will go a long way in creating job opportunities and also serve both Local and International Markets.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner of Livestock and Aquaculture Development Usman Yahaya Diyajo applauded Governor Fintiri for coming to the aid at the Ministry as most machines before the advent of the present administration has been obsolete.

The Commissioner revealed that with the present administration’s intervention, the abattoir now has a holding pen, slaughter slab and deboning units which he said has improved the hygiene of the meat consumed

Diyajo further disclosed that the state government has acquired vans for the transportation of meat from the abattoir to points of sale in a hygienic way against what was obtained in the past.
