Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has presented the 2025 budget of N320,811, 000,00 billion to the state House of Assembly.
The proposed budget include the sum of N176,964,213,000, representing 55.1% allocated to capital expenditure, while the sum of N144,036,787,000,00 representing 44.9% allocated to recurrent expenditure.
Presenting the 2025 budget before the state House of Assembly, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the budget, which was tagged “Budget of Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction” would provide funds for the completion of modern markets in Potiskum, Geidam, Yunusari and Ngalda as well as the Damaturu Mega Shopping Mall.
Governor Buni stated that the budget would also concentrate on economic sector that would continue to play its pivotal role in the speedy growth and socio-economic development agenda for the state.
A total sum of ₦156,931,818,000 is allocated to cover capital and recurrent expenditure for the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Tourism, Ministry of Wealth Creation Empowerment and Employment Generation, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Transport and Energy, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
Other organisations, according to the governor include: Water Corporation, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, Internal Revenue Service, Rural Electrification Board, Housing and Property Development Corporation and Yobe Investment Company Limited, among others.
“The widespread of road projects is intended to give a facelift and accessibility to our communities. Government is committed to the completion of the seventeen ongoing road projects and to embark on eleven new ones.
“The completion of the township roads and drainages in five Local Government Areas is very dear to the government.
“I am also pleased to inform you that work would soon commence for the construction of the Damaturu flyover,” said Governor Buni.
He revealed that the state’s drive to connect additional communities to the National Grid and provision of solar street lights would also be sustained in the 2025 budget.
“Provision would be made for the installation of solar street lights in 11 Local Government Areas and various locations within Damaturu metropolis.
He further said more buses would be procured to add to the fleet of the Yobe Line Mass Transport to provide cheaper transportation to the people.
“Our efforts would therefore, dwell on improving facilities and open up various opportunities for inflow of domestic and foreign investments in this sector.
The governor noted that, “In the 2025 fiscal year, we would not relent on our effort to improve education at all levels.
“Funds have been allocated for the rehabilitation of GSS Daura, GDSS Damaturu, GSS Jakusko, GSS Geidam, GSTC Nguru, GGSS Gadaka, construction of school structures such as classrooms, offices, staff quarters and perimeter fencing.
“Others are payment of scholarships, tuition and examination fees at the NTIC schools in Mamudo, Kano and Abuja and all government-owned schools.
Governor Buni commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on his commitment to providing leadership to the nation at a very difficult time, and finding solutions to the security and economic challenges militating against the progress of the country.
