Isiaka who is representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency cited experience and plans for economic development of the state.

This marks his fourth attempt at the office. Isiaka previously contested in 2011 under the Peoples Party of Nigeria, polling 137,051 votes against Sen. Ibikunle Amosun of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

In 2015, he ran under the Peoples Democratic Party and again lost to Amosun. In 2019, he contested on the African Democratic Congress platform, losing to the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun.

After 2019, Isiaka joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and won his current House of Representatives seat in 2023.

He also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on Sunday, Isiaka said he has begun consultations ahead of the 2027 elections and stressed that his experience makes him highly qualified.

“I’m expressing interest to run for the governorship of the state in 2027. I have an interest but it will be declared at the proper and appropriate time,” Isiaka said.

“I have in the past three weeks been meeting stakeholders to let them know I am in for the 2027 governorship race. I am a bonafide indigene of the state with no controversy, so I am eminently qualified to contest.”

Isiaka cited economic development, industrialisation, quality healthcare and education, and job creation as his primary goals if elected.

He dismissed claims that his bid is sponsored by Governor Dapo Abiodun, emphasising that his candidacy is rooted in personal determination and capability.
