The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has called for the decentralisation of the Supreme Court to all regions.
Gani Adams in an interview with Present NG said decentralising it will give the people quick access to justice.
He proposed the establishment of a Supreme Court in all zones and one at the Central to coordinate them.
“ Supreme Court is not only suppose to be in Abuja, that is what is bringing delay in Justice because Justice delayed is Justice denied, We are suppose to have a supreme court in all the zones and one in the Central to control the region.
“When you have supreme court in all the zones, maybe the South West Supreme court is in Ibadan or Lagos then you will be able to access justice with limited resources.”
“That is one of the reasons we are calling for going back to regionalism, allow the federating unit to develop at their own pace.
“The federal government has already put too much of load in their nest and they can’t cope, when you have about three hundred parastatals and over forty ministries and most of the ministries are suppose to be under the region.
“ The Ministries out of 46, the federal government are not suppose to be handling more than 10 the remaining should be under the regional structure and the State will have their own autonomy, they will still have their State Police, State high court, appeal and maybe a central supreme court.
