The management of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has issued an immediate suspension to two students accused of cyberbullying the institution’s recently suspended Students’ Union Government (SUG) president, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.

The disciplinary action was confirmed in an official statement by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tajudeen Opoola.

The two suspended students, identified as Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel, allegedly conspired to leak Adio’s private affairs online after he failed to comply with their financial demands.

University authorities condemned the students’ actions, characterizing the behavior as extortion-driven cyberbullying that threatens to tarnish the institution’s public reputation.

While a formal investigation into the leak remains ongoing, both individuals have been ordered to vacate the campus immediately.

The incident follows a turbulent week for the student union leadership. Adio, along with the university’s Deputy Director of Student Affairs, was suspended just last week over allegations of financial extortion.

He is accused of involvement in an unauthorized ₦1,000 levy imposed on first-year students for practical sessions, with investigators reportedly tracing ₦700,000 directly to his personal bank account.

Shortly after his initial suspension, an explicit video involving Adio began circulating heavily across social media platforms, prompting an intervention from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) before university management stepped in to penalize the alleged leakers.
