Fubara raised the issue on Friday at the Government House during a meeting with the new Commissioner of Police, Nwoyi Polycarp Emeka.

The governor urged the commissioner to investigate the complaints of sightings of police officers operating like SARS in Port Harcourt and other areas.

He urged him to halt any form of harassment of law-abiding individuals.

“The importance of security is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders. We urge you to get to the bottom of complaints from citizens,” he said.

Fubara assured of his administration’s commitment to sustain support for security agencies to safeguard lives and property.

The governor further charged the CP to be firm, forthright and tackle crimes and criminality with his wealth of experience.

“Let your familiarity with Rivers security terrain be an advantage to effectively combat crime and criminalities in the state,” he added.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof, Zacchaeus Adango and relevant government agencies have been directed to collaborate with the police and other security arms.
