Four worshippers are feared to have lost their lives, with many individuals sustaining injuries on Friday when the Zaria Central Mosque collapsed during prayers
Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, confirmed the tragic occurrence, revealing that the calamity struck during the observance of the Asr prayer at approximately 4 pm.
Disturbingly, even though a crack in the mosque’s wall had been detected a day prior, efforts to address the issue were ongoing with a team of civil engineers actively involved in the repair process.
Meanwhile, the Emir has extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims.
He also directed that prayers be conducted outside the mosque until the necessary repairs are concluded.
Furthermore, he communicated that the funeral prayers for the departed would be held at 8:30 pm on the same day within the premises of the Emir’s palace
