Former lawmaker, Magnus Abe, who represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District, has declared his intention to run in the 2023 governorship election in Rivers State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Abe made the declaration during the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Vanguard for Wards 4, 5 and 6 in Bera, his hometown, in the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Abe said he will support anyone who emerges the APC governorship candidate in a free, fair and equitable contest, saying anything otherwise will be unaccepted.
Magnus Abe has been enmeshed in a protracted leadership battle with former governor and current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the structure of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
The political battle between the duo had resulted in a supreme court pronouncement that barred the APC from fielding candidates for elective positions in the 2019 general elections.
Presently, the nationally recognized structure of the party in the state is loyal to the Transportation Minister, who is nursing a presidential ambition.
