The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a boost with the defection of a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)stalwart from Niger North Senatorial District, Alhaji Muhammed Sani Duba.
Sani Duba was received by the APC state Chairman, Alhaji Haliru Zakari Jikantoro, represented by the Zonal Chairman, Zone ‘C’ of the party, Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi at the state Party Secretariat in Minna.
He described his defection as a home coming as he has been benefiting from the party even while he was in the PDP.
Sani Duba promised to be a loyal party member, and to galvanise his supporters in the entire 87 wards across eight local government areas in Niger North Senatorial District to vote for all APC candidates in the Governorship and State Assembly elections come Saturday this week.
He appreciated the APC members for the warmth reception, and expressed confidence that Bago will build a greater Niger state when elected.
According to Duba, “it’s not too late for others to join as APC is for the Progressives”.
The APC state Chairman said the defection of Duba is a plus to the party especially with just few days to the Governorship and State Assembly elections.
Also in his remarks, the Governorship candidate of the APC, Muhammed Umar Bago appreciated Sani Duba for believing in his course for a new Niger state by joining the fold.
He assured him of equal treatment with other members of the party.
“Every privilege and right that every other person has in this party, you have the same from this moment”.
Muhammed Sani Duba was hitherto a stalwart of PDP in the Niger North Senatorial District with huge supporters from all the eight local government areas across Niger North.
He was a PDP Senatorial aspirant in 2019. And it is hoped that his defection to APC at this crucial time, the Party will coast to victory at the Governorship and State Assembly elections come Saturday the 18th of March, 2023.
