Felix Akhabue, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the September 21, election in Edo State, has resigned from the party.
Akhabue announced his decision in a letter addressed to the Ward 7 chairman, Esan West local government area.
He also copied the resignation letter to the state chairman and the National Working Committee of the party.
He cited glaring prejudicial activities of the party’s leadership against him as a reason for resigning from the party.
The letter reads: “I write to formally notify the party through your office of my resignation as member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, henceforth.
“My decision to resign is borne out of the glaring prejudicial activities of the party’s Leadership against my fair, reasonable and continuous participation as a member of the party.
“I wish to use this opportunity to appreciate some genuine friends in the party we have worked together in the past years.”
Akhabue is a member of Legacy Group faction of PDP in the state.
Akhabue was a former, chairman of Esan West Local Government Area as well as Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Cooperative and Industry in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s first tenure.
