Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

Mimiko, the first governor in Ondo State’s history to serve two terms, announced his decision at the APC Secretariat in Ondo City, where he was formally received by the state chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, alongside party leaders and supporters.

His move follows the earlier defection of many of his loyalists to the APC in 2025, a development widely seen as groundwork for his eventual alignment with the ruling party.

Speaking at the event, Mimiko said his decision was driven by the need to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a “performer” committed to national development.

He noted that the current administration has set Nigeria on a path of rapid growth and transformation.
