Jigawa State Governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has sympathized with the victims of the flooding in the state.

No fewer than Seven persons died, while many residents were displaced after flooding from heavy downpour swept through Jigawa communities on Tuesday.

The flooding which affected many LGAs, with worst-hit areas being Dutse, Hadejia, Gwaram, Kafin Hausa Kirikasamma, Guri, Auyo and Jahun.

Five of the victims were reported to have lost their lives in Kirikasamma LGA and two in Bulangu town of Kafin Hausa LGA.

The Governor in a statement by the commissioner of Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, said the flood is considered the Almighty’s way of testing his servants.

According to the statement, almost all the local governments in the state have recorded some level of damage, with some of the local governments recording deaths and multiple injuries.

“I want to use this opportunity to condole the people of Jigawa state and also to sympathize with victims of the recent flood that was majorly caused by a torrential rainfall that lasted for over thirty hours.

He added, “the effect of climate change is a global phenomenon that do not spare any part of the world.

” Last year we experience a shortage of rainfall but this year it is completely different. This is Allahs way of testing us.”

“From the report, we are receiving six people who have lost their lives, three in Kirikasamma and three in Kafinhausa local government areas of the state.

” I use this medium to send my condolences to the immediate family of the victims and pray that the almighty grant them Jannatul Firdausi.” the Govenor added.
