The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with the alleged murder of the University of Ilorin graduate, Lanre Adebayo, by security men at the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin, the state capital.

They were arrested by police operatives on Tuesday and taken to the Kwara State Police Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Ilorin.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, however, said the suspects are all males, contrary to earlier reports that two females were among those arrested.

Adebayo, the 46-year-old political science graduate of the University of Ilorin, was allegedly murdered on Sunday in the Ita-Elepa area of the Ilorin metropolis during a heated argument with local security men of the community on his way home.

The deceased was allegedly macheted to death in the brutal encounter, which occurred at about 10 pm.
