First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are set to lead a national prayer session aimed at addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
Organized by the National Prayer Forum (NPF) and supported by Christian and Muslim leaders, the event seeks divine intervention for the country’s economic, security, and social crises.
This announcement was made by Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, the Director General of the National Prayer Forum, NPF, in Abuja.
Afolorunikan stated that the theme for the 2024 national prayer is “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs.”
Afolorunikan emphasized the importance of unity and collective prayer as crucial steps toward overcoming national challenges.
The prayer sessions will be held at two main venues.
Muslims will convene at the National Mosque in Abuja, where 313 participants will engage in Qur’anic recitations for seven days, aiming to complete the recitation 2,191 times in a powerful appeal for national stability. Simultaneously, Christian prayer warriors from various denominations will gather at the National Ecumenical Centre for a week of intense prayer, concentrating their efforts on Nigeria’s adversities.
Extensive outreach efforts have been made to ensure broad participation, including consultations with the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the leadership of the National Mosque, and traditional figures such as the Sultan of Sokoto.
Afolorunikan expressed optimism that through unity and prayer, Nigeria would enter 2025 with renewed hope and purpose.
